Challenges Of Mobility

Lincoln School students learn first hand the challenges of mobility in a wheelchair as they attempt to move through a course designed by staff at OSU’s National Center for Accessible Transportation (NCAT).

Lincoln 6-8 grade students are spending the first few weeks of school attending class at Oregon State University. When their classroom space at Lincoln was not ready for the start of school, Lincoln 6-8 teacher Janice Rosenburg, who also teaches half-time in the School of Science and Math at OSU, arranged for a classroom on the OSU campus. Students have taken advantage of several special science learning opportunities while on campus, including a visit to NCAT, located on the OSU campus. NCAT conducts research on accessibility issues and developing practical improvements in transportation technologies to help make transportation more accessible for people with disabilities.
