Students produce Safe Routes to School video

Fifth graders at Hoover Elementary School recently finished making a video about the district's Safe Routes to School Movement which will be aired on Cable Channel 28 in March.

The "Student Vision - Student Voice" project highlights what works to increase active transportation such as walking and biking to school. Hoover and several other elementary schools promote a Walk or Bike to School Day each month to encourage families to help reduce congestion and pollution caused by driving to school.

Student production crews developed interview questions related to the Safe Routes to School program, while others filmed 12 interviews with experts from the school and the City of Corvallis. The students worked with Amy Hunter, the Corvallis School District Television director, to edit the film at the Corvallis Community Access Television station.
