Where can I find my child's bus schedule?
Bus schedules will be printed in the Corvallis Gazette-Times the week before school begins. The schedules also will be posted on the Transportation page of this Web site.
What is the first day of school for kindergarteners?
Kindergarten students in Corvallis experience a “gentle start” to their first year in school. During the first week of school (Sept. 7-13), kindergarten teachers will meet one-on-one with students and their parents. This gives teachers an opportunity to get to know the children and complete some quick, informal assessments with each one.
Kindergarten students will attend their first day of class along with just half of their classmates to allow the teacher more time to interact with each child and to teach those key skills necessary for success in kindergarten. After each half of the class goes through this orientation time, the entire class starts school together.
Parents should call their school
office to find out what day and time their child is to
arrive at school the first time. All kindergarten
classes will be session by Sept. 14.
When do fall sports practices begin at the high schools?
Fall sports teams at both high schools (football, volleyball, cross-country and soccer) offer an optional conditioning week Aug. 15-19. Fall sports practices and tryouts begin on Aug. 22.
Student athletes must first be cleared for participation by turning in the necessary paperwork, including an emergency information card and a signed code of conduct form. The Crescent Valley forms can be downloaded here or are available at the CVHS athletic office. CHS forms will be included in registration packets mailed to students during the summer and are available in the CHS athletic office.
Athletic fees also must be paid. The first and second OSAA sports fees are $150 each; a third sport costs $100.
All freshmen, juniors or new students need a physical exam prior to beginning practice. Sports physicals will be available at Corvallis High School on Aug. 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. for a fee of $30. Crescent Valley High School athletes can get a free physical exam in the training room on Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (any donations will go to the CV football program).

School Open Houses & Back to School Nights

Parents are invited to come meet their students' teachers and school administrators, tour the school and learn more about their school's curriculum and unique features. These dates will be posted on each school's Web site.
