Who keeps Wilson School running?
Lots of people, that's who! Of course we know of the hard-working faculty & staff members, the support of the 509J School District, the students, and the support of the parents. You may not know about the volunteers in the various school organizations that tirelessly pitch in wherever there is a need. These people provide a critical role in keeping the school supported and funded, they provide some relief and appreciation for the faculty & staff, and they bring fun and educational programs and events to Wilson.
- Parent Teacher Association
- The PTA provides help to Wilson in so many ways, it's hard to keep track of all that's going on! The PTA puts parents in contact with the faculty and staff and keeps them informed of ongoing projects and issues.
The PTA also organizes and staffs many educational and fund-raising programs during the school year. The funds raised by the PTA are used to fill any needs in the school's budget. Some of the money also goes to provide small tokens of our appreciation of the faculty and staff, many of whom spend countless hours of their own time to make Wilson such a great school.
To find out more about what's going on with the PTA, check your Wildcat and the PTA web page.
- Site Council
- The Site Council is a group of faculty, staff and parent volunteers who make decisions on the school's philosophy, goals, instructional program, and staff development. More information can be found on the Site Council page.
- Parents of Wilson School
- Every year, the parents of Wilson students come through to support their children, their teachers, and every other aspect of the school. To get in touch with some of the other parents as well as with faculty and staff, you'll want to subscribe to the Wilson email list, wilson-list@egroups.com. Find out more here!
- School Budget Process Information
- School budgets seem to get tighter every year. Want to know why? Want to know who influences it? Want to know how you can help? Check out the district's Budget Updates page. Of particular interest is the Budget Primer document. (If you can't read the .PDF file, send me a note and I can either translate it for you or get you a paper copy.)
