Talented and Gifted Education Advisory Committee

This committee provides input on issues related to talented and gifted educational opportunities and assists with promoting educational enrichment for high ability students.

The committee consists of parent representatives from each school, the district’s TAG Coordinator, a principal, a community at-large member, and a TAG consultant. The primary activities of the Talented and Gifted Advisory Committee (TGAC) include:

  • Regular meetings to share information and provide feedback on talented and gifted services in our district
  • Advocate for continuous improvement of the district’s TAG programs
  • Share resources with parents of students identified as talented and gifted
  • Enhance communication about talented and gifted educational opportunities among parents, school site councils, district administration, and staff

Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted

Each year this committee works with district staff to sponsor a series of meetings and presentations for parents of high ability students. Anyone interested in talented and gifted issues are welcome to attend.

OATAG (Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted) is non-profit organization dedicated to support and encourage the development of educational programs and opportunities for talented and gifted children. Visit the OATAG website for parent and student TAG resources.

We partner with OATAG for parent education opportunities and events. This organization hosts a parent conference each fall. This year’s conference will be held on October 15, 2016 in Portland, Oregon at Reed College. Details are here.
