2018 Budget Committee

The Budget Committee has 14 members: seven elected school board members and seven citizens appointed to three-year terms by the board. Citizen members are appointed by open vote of the School Board as openings occur. The Committee will meet in the Spring of 2018 to review the Superintendent's Proposed Budget for 2018-19.

2018 Budget Committee Meetings

Meeting dates and times currently scheduled are listed below, subject to change.

All meetings are open to the public and are convened in the District Office Board Room, unless otherwise noted. Public comment is welcome at designated meetings.

Informational Meeting/Training: Thursday, March 8, 2018, 6:30 pm*

Informational meeting intended for new committee members. Agenda items include: an overview of the budget process, the roles and responsibilities of budget committee members, an orientation on the budget document and format, and other general introductory and non-specific topics.

* Training/Orientation/Informational session will be convened during a Special Meeting of the School Board.

Committee Meeting: Thursday, May 3, 2018, 6:30 pm

First official Budget Committee meeting. Officers will be elected, the committee will receive the budget message, listen to public testimony, ask clarifying questions, and discuss the proposed budget.

Committee Meeting: Thursday, May 17, 2018, 6:30 pm

Committee will receive follow up to questions from the first meeting, listen to public testimony, and deliberate. If time permits, the committee may approve the budget, tax rate, and tax amount.

Committee Meeting: Thursday, May 31, 2018, 6:30 pm

Committee will meet only if needed. Committee will deliberate and approve the budget, tax rate, and tax amount.

Citizen Committee Members Appointed

On November 16, 2017, the Corvallis School Board appointed three (3) individuals to the 2018 Budget Committee:

  • LeeAnn Baker was re-appointed for an additional three year term, expiring June 30, 2020.
  • Kathy Seeburger was appointed to replace Rick Osborn for a three year term.
  • Peter Sabee-Paulson was appointed to complete the term expiring June 30, 2018 previously held by Terese Jones, appointed to the School Board.

The Budget Committee has 14 members:  seven elected school board members and seven citizens appointed to three-year terms by the board. The citizen members are appointed by open vote of the School Board as openings occur. The Budget Committee meets approximately 2 to 3 times, primarily in late Spring (April to June), at evening meetings to approve the following year’s budget. Citizen members are encouraged to attend certain board meetings during the year when staff will update the Board on matters relating to the budget.
