Common Core State Standards (CCSS) refers to a shared set of increased learning expectations in English-language arts and math developed by teachers, administrators, parents and education experts across the nation to ensure that all students graduate with the skills they need to succeed in life. The State of Oregon adopted the CCSS in October 2010 and required new standardized assessments (Smarter Balanced) beginning in 2015.
Our previous educational standards in math and language arts were replaced in 2011-12 with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), which are more rigorous English-language arts and math standards.
Common Formative Assessments
Formative assessment is a deliberate process used by teachers and students during instruction that provides actionable feedback. This process helps teachers make adjustments to teaching strategies to improve students' attainment of learning targets and goals.
With a 98.2% assessment participation rate, Corvallis students continue to outpace state averages in every grade level in English, Math, and Science.
