Bond Update: Harding Center/College Hill Project

In the fall of 2019, District leadership made the decision to postpone the Harding Center/College Hill project to the end of the bond program in anticipation that funding would be available to structurally upgrade the two-story portion of the building as an added scope to the bond promises. In December, 2021, the District received subcontractor bids at a project cost that significantly exceeded available funds and was not feasible.

The bond management team has been working with architects from Pivot Architecture to review the original designs with the seismic modifications, work through a new reduced scope for the project, and prioritize the Design Advisory Committee’s preferred features in order to keep the project in line with established budgets and meet bond promises. The final design will be completed this spring.

  • The City of Corvallis land use review, full permit submittal and City permit review are expected to occur in the coming months.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin this summer as planned.
  • Starting this spring, a logistics team will begin the process of relocating current Harding Center programs to temporary locations. For the 2022-23 school year, the WINGS classroom will be relocated to Cornerstone Associates offices and College Hill classes and the Central Instructional Media Center operations will be moved to temporary locations. The Urban Farm program will stay on site.
