Middle School Science Curriculum
The NGSS have raised the bar in science education, moving the focus away from memorization and toward active engagement. Amplify Science, by Amplify Education Inc., is a robust, multi-modal, hands-on program made that fulfills 100 percent of the NGSS, as well as a substantial number of the Common Core ELA and math standards.
An outline of the materials for middle school classrooms is accessible online at https://www.amplify.com/curriculum/amplifyscience
High School Science Curriculum
The NGSS requirement of active engagement is practiced in lab opportunities for high school science courses. The texts below offer a foundation of information that will allow students to reference scientific facts. Laboratory case studies are accessible from sites such as The National Science Foundation- National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science accessible online at http://sciencecases.lib.buffalo.edu/cs/about/
The school board will vote on the recommended curriculum adoption later this month. Questions may be directed to the district’s Teaching and Learning Department at 541-757-4334.
