Today, the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) released results from the Oregon Statewide Assessment System’s (OSAS) spring 2025 assessment. These results show that our students continue to outperform state averages.
The state summative tests include English Language Arts, Math, and Science. Students in grades 3-8, as well as 11, participate in English language arts and math tests. Science assessments are administered in grades 5, 8, and 11. The Oregon Department of Education Student Assessment webpage provides more information on the summative tests.
In addition to our local assessment, STAR Reading and Math, OSAS results help our district identify differences in student group outcomes and inform education planning and decision-making to prioritize funds, resources, and support for our students.
“I am encouraged that our students continue to outperform state averages, and this consistent level of performance affirms that the foundational work we’ve prioritized is effective and has positioned us on a positive path,” said Superintendent Ryan Noss. “Our priority is to build on this solid base, driven by our strategic investments in literacy instruction and expanded after-school and summer programs.”
The Corvallis School District participates in a program focused on literacy, as well as two programs that address after-school and summer learning, and extended academics.
Early Literacy Grant
The Corvallis School District is a recipient of the Oregon Early Literacy Success School District Grant. This funding is being used to boost and enhance our high-quality literacy instruction and interventions, empowering students to become stronger readers and writers. These efforts are crucial to realizing benefits like improved attendance, an increased sense of belonging, and higher graduation rates.
Summer Programs
The Corvallis School District provides summer programming for students in grades K-12, specifically designed for those who are significantly behind in credits or need additional academic support. In the summer of 2025, the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation’s support was key to serving approximately 350 students across our programs. This funding was critical for credit recovery, where students earned over 86 High School credits, directly helping them regain learning.
21st Century Grant
The Corvallis School District is one of twenty-seven Oregon recipients of the 21st Century Grant. This funding supports an intensive 12-week program for students in our Title 1 schools, providing targeted academic support in reading and math alongside essential social-emotional supports, including extended programming through the summer.
