Bond Update: Phasing Plans in Development for Spring/Summer 2020

Since the May 2018 voter approval of the district’s $199 million facilities bond, the Corvallis School District has been working with our project management team from the Wenaha Group, Pivot Architecture and DLR Group as designers and both Gerding Builders and Fortis Construction as Construction Manager/General Contractors for the bond program. Additionally, many specialty consultants are providing technical expertise and working with the team to support work.

For the last year, the team has been focused on creating designs that meet bond promises while staying within project scope and budget estimates. Several smaller projects were completed last summer and can be viewed HERE.

After dozens of site team and school-based design advisory committee meetings and two community information night meetings, the district is quickly approaching the construction phase for several major school projects. The team is currently developing phasing plans that will help schools maintain regular operations during the construction process.

The district has contracted with a move management consultant whose job it will be to minimize disruption in our schools and help us quickly return to the normal workflow. The team is working collaboratively with school staff to develop plans for the temporary relocation and/or addition of modular classrooms, playground, and outdoor play area changes, parking and site circulation disruptions, and additional support for building staff leading up to the summer when some classrooms will need to be packed and moved to new locations.

Students at the two replacement schools (Lincoln and Hoover Elementary) will continue to attend their school while the replacement school is under construction. Once the building is completed, school operations will move to the new building and the old school will be demolished.
