Crescent Valley High School: First Youth & Government Team, Robotics World’s Qualification

Crescent Valley High School Youth and Government Team

Two Crescent Valley students attended the Oregon Youth and Government 77th annual conference on February 25th. Noam Raich (grade 11) and Sierra Humphreys (grade 11) both participated in the conference as delegates to create and send the Crescent Valley High School delegation to the conference.

They worked in separate legislative committees to pass or fail bills that the other students and themselves had written. Noam was in the Senate as the primary sponsor for Crescent Valley’s bill, and Sierra Humphreys was in the House of Representatives and the secondary sponsor for Crescent Valley’s bill.

Their contributions to creating the Crescent Valley delegation earned them the “Outstanding New Delegation Award,” awarded to the best delegation to be started in recent years.

Crescent Valley High School Robotics World's Qualification

On April 8th, Crescent Valley’s robotics team, team 955 CV Robotics, qualified for the World Robotics Championships hosted by FIRST after placing 3rd in the Pacific Northwest District Championships. They will be competing in Houston, Texas, from April 19-23 with 600 other teams from around the world. After competing in three district events and the PNW District Championships, they emerged as the 4th best team in Oregon and 10th in all of the PNW.

Besides getting to compete at Worlds, CV Robotics is happy to include a diverse group of people in this opportunity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM). With 38% of the team being first-year students and 60% of our members being people of color, CV Robotics is committed to spreading STEAM to the next generation while promoting diversity.

Please join the district in congratulating Crescent Valley’s team on this accomplishment and wishing them luck in their competition.
