Due to anticipated traffic and travel difficulties related to the solar eclipse, the Corvallis School District will be closed on Monday, August 21. While the district will be closed and staff will not report to work, high school athletic practices will take place in the afternoon. This is to address requirements of the Oregon School Activities Association that stipulate a certain number of practices before a team’s first competition.
Eclipse viewing will be allowed on school grounds but no overnight camping will be allowed on district property. Additional information is available HERE.
The City of Corvallis and Benton County have teamed up to provide excellent safety information about the total solar eclipse that will take place in Corvallis on August 21 at approximately 10:15 am. As many as 400,000 visitors could come to the Willamette Valley for the eclipse and public officials would like local citizens to be informed and prepared.
