The Corvallis School District was recently awarded a grant to improve the transition into kindergarten for students in our community. One component of that grant includes implementing a home visit program. This year, we will be piloting a home visit project for students who will be entering kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. Amy Lesan, CSD Elementary Teaching & Learning Coordinator, will oversee the program.
“Home visit programs have recently been in the news as a successful method to increase family-school relationships and student success,” said Ms. Lesan. “This pilot program aligns with our district’s commitment to equity and ensuring a successful start in school for our youngest students.” The Oregon Joint Committee on Student Success Guidance provides several recommendations that are informing the district’s launch of the pilot program.
