Dixon Creek Replanting Completed and Educational Display Installed

The riparian zone replanting of native species along Dixon Creek on the Corvallis High School campus was completed by an enthusiastic team of volunteers on March 2.  The project was coordinated by Cheldelin Middle School student Canon Clark, as an Eagle Scout project and involved dozens of volunteers planting more than 1,000 native plants. The Corvallis School District grounds team will be responsible for maintaining the area now that the project is complete. Thank you to Canon and the multitude of volunteers who completed this work!

Did you know that more than 50 tributaries drain from Witham Hill, Dimple hill, Timber hill and Chip Ross Park? A display of the Dixon Creek watershed and some of its characteristics has been installed at the CHS planting location so it is visible for people who walk by. Similar displays have been installed on City of Corvallis/Public Works property at a number of other sites around the city, including a site adjacent to the Jefferson Elementary School campus (near Circle Blvd.) Thank you to the City of Corvallis, the Sustainability Coalition, and volunteer David Eckert for the creation and installation of the CHS display.
