New Administrator Announced for Research, Assessment and Growth Coordinator

During the 2021-22 budget process, the Corvallis School District created the position of Research, Assessment and Growth Coordinator in the Teaching and Learning Department. This position will focus on research and student growth and will advance the district’s equity work through analysis and action related to disaggregated data and assessment. Superintendent Ryan Noss has announced that Leigh Santy has been hired to fill this position effective July 1, 2021.

As Research, Assessment and Growth Coordinator, Ms. Santy will work in collaboration with the district’s current Assessment/Data Specialist to analyze and interpret student data. She will design and facilitate professional development in assessment literacy. A key aspect of this role will be to work as a collaborator with building principals and school data teams and to serve as a communicator with district leadership and the school board. Ms. Santy will also be responsible for coordinating the district’s Talented and Gifted program.

She has served as the principal at Garfield Elementary since December 2012 and has worked in the Corvallis School District since 2001. Ms. Santy began her work in the district teaching at Garfield in the Dual Language Immersion Program. She later worked at the district level as the English Language Learner (ELL) Instructional Coach, ELL Coordinator, and Title I Program Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Science from University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Masters of Educational Leadership and administrative license from University of Phoenix.

“Leigh has the ability to get others to understand what our data is telling us and the reality of what that means for our students,” shared Superintendent Noss. “She has done extensive work in the field of instructional coaching which is a vital skill she will bring to her collaborative work throughout the district. We are excited to have Leigh serve in this new position.”

This hiring will create a vacancy at Garfield Elementary. Nancy Davila-Williams, who has served as interim principal at Garfield, will continue in that position for the 2021-22 school year. Ms. Davila-Williams was Dean of Students at Garfield and has been a Garfield staff member for more than 10 years.
