The Corvallis School Board met Thursday, July 1 for their first meeting of the 2021-22 school year. The meeting followed an afternoon tour of bond projects at Lincoln Elementary, Garfield Elementary, and Crescent Valley High School.
The meeting began with the swearing-in of two reelected board members, Sami Al-Abdrabbuh and Vince Adams, and two newly elected board members Dr. Luhui Whitebear and Shauna Tominey. Dr. Whitebear is a returning board member who was appointed in January 2020 to fill a vacant position on the school board. Shauna Tominey is new to the Corvallis School Board and will bring her professional experience across all levels of education to the work of the board.
Director Sami Al-AbdRabbuh was elected as board chair, Sarah Finger McDonald was elected to serve as first vice-chair, and Dr. Luhui Whitebear was elected to serve as second vice-chair for the 2021-22 school year. The next scheduled board meeting will be held on August 12, 2021.
