School Safety Message for Families

This morning Linus Pauling Middle School received a report from a concerned adult about a possible threat at school. The Corvallis Police Department was immediately notified and officers began an investigation. They identified there was no threat to students and staff and the investigation is now closed. A letter was shared with Linus Pauling families to inform them of the situation.

In today’s day and age we know that there are heightened fears related to school safety. We share those concerns.

Every tip received by the Corvallis School District is thoroughly researched in cooperation with local agency partners. Responses appropriate to each individual situation are immediately put into action. In today’s instance, it was determined there was no threat to children or staff.

Should a tip be determined to be credible, the district’s standard response protocols would immediately be enacted. In those situations the immediate life safety of our students and staff is our first priority. Communications to families would follow as information is available for release.

School safety is everyone’s responsibility. The district urges everyone to report any safety concern to SafeOregon, a 24/7, confidential tip line at 844-472-3367 or online at https://www.safeoregon.com/report-a-tip/

If you have questions about the district’s safety response protocols, please contact your child’s school or call the Assistant Superintendent’s office at 541-766-4857.
