Interim Board Member Selected

Terese Jones Selected as Interim School Board Member for Position #3

The Corvallis School Board conducted an application process and five individuals submitted a letter of interest. All candidates attended the July 10 school board meeting to participate in the public selection process and provide a five minute presentation. School Board chair Vince Adams thanked all applicants and noted that we are lucky to have five great applicants.

All applicants had an opportunity to answer questions from board members and the top three were selected for additional questions. After several rounds of questions and answers, the board voted unanimously to select Terese Jones for the position. Welcome to our newest school board member, Terese Jones!

When asked how she will work as a board member to support students and families to feel more included in the district, Terese noted that we must “look beyond policies to the day to day interactions in school communities. The response is at the individual level. We have a lot of work to do together.”

The interim term runs July 10, 2017 through June 30, 2019.

Other business at the board meeting included a farewell to outgoing board member Alexis McQuillan and a presentation of the draft plan from the Long Range Facility Planning Committee.  The board had an opportunity for questions and answers with Karen Montovino, architectural consultant from DLR Group and Facilities Director, Kim Patten. Additional community listening sessions will take place later this summer and next fall.
