Budget Committee Vacancies Announced

The Corvallis School District has three vacancies on the Budget Committee. Terms are for three years and will end on June 30, 2022.

Interested individuals are invited to submit a brief resume and a letter of interest including a signed statement that the applicant is able and willing to serve as a member of the budget committee and to adhere to the policies of the district by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019, to [email protected], or to Corvallis School District Finance and Operations, Attn: Steven Prososki, PO Box 3509J, Corvallis, OR 97339.

The Budget Committee consists of seven members appointed by the School Board plus the seven elected School Board members. Budget Committee members are appointed by the School Board to review the District’s proposed budget, listen to public comment, recommend needed changes, and then approve the budget total and tax rates to be forwarded to the School Board for adoption.

Applicants must live and be registered to vote in the District, and not be an officer, agent or employee of the District. Positions are non-partisan, unpaid, and are not connected to any specific region within the district. Members with expired terms may request reappointment.

Budget committee members are appointed for three-year terms and typically conduct business in evening public meetings held between April and June. Meetings are normally scheduled on Thursday evenings. New appointees are also expected to participate in an orientation session.

To apply, submit a letter of interest and resume by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019. Materials submitted will be public information (with contact information removed). The Corvallis School Board will vote to appoint three budget committee members at the regularly scheduled November 14, 2019 board meeting.
