Budget Committee Vacancy

Corvallis School District 509J has an immediate vacancy on the Budget Committee to complete a 3-year term ending on June 30, 2021. Individuals wishing to pursue appointment to the Committee are invited to submit a letter of interest and resume to jennifer.schroeder@corvallis.k12.or.us.

The Budget Committee consists of seven members appointed by the School Board plus the seven elected School Board members. Budget Committee members are appointed by the School Board to review the District’s proposed budget, listen to public comment, recommend needed changes, and then approve the budget total and tax rates to be forwarded to the School Board for adoption.

Applicants must live and be registered to vote in the District, and not be an officer, agent or employee of the District. Positions are non-partisan, unpaid, and are not connected to any specific region within the district. Members with expired terms may request reappointment.

Budget committee members are typically appointed for three-year terms and conduct business in evening public meetings held between April and June. Meetings are normally scheduled on Thursday evenings. New appointees may also expected to participate in an orientation session.

The individual appointed related to this announcement will complete the final year of a three-year term previously held by an individual who recently resigned the position.
