New Administrators Announced for Corvallis High School

Superintendent Ryan Noss has announced administrator changes for the 2021-22 school year. Effective July 1, 2021, Germaine Joseph-Hays and Emmet Whitaker have been hired as the new assistant principals at Corvallis High School to fill the vacancies left by current administrators at Corvallis High School. Assistant Principal Colleen Works will be retiring after serving for eight years as assistant principal and more than three decades as an educator. Assistant Principal Paul Navarra will also be leaving his position to move with his family to Medillin, Columbia. He has served as Assistant Principal since 2015.

Germaine Joseph-Hays is currently a science teacher at CHS and has taught in the Corvallis School District since 2017. She started her educational career at the International School in St. Lucia and has 11 years of experience as an educator, including teaching middle and high school science in Carrizozo, a small, rural town in South-central New Mexico, and teaching Biology and Advanced Placement Biology at Central High School in Independence, Oregon. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree from Western University, in London, Ontario, Canada. Germaine is currently part of the District Equity Leadership Team Advisory and serves as a mentor/coach of the CHS Students Advocating for Equity (SAFE) student group.

Emmet Whittaker has been a science and AVID teacher at Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Oregon since 2013. He began teaching after a 15-year career as a Senior Engineer and Program Manager with Hewlett-Packard in the U.S. and Ireland. Emmet holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Paisley, in Scotland, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Oregon University. He also holds an Oregon Principal License from Lewis and Clark College. In 2016, he received the Oregon Science Teachers Association Outstanding High School Classroom Teacher Award.
