The school board reviewed school calendar options presented by HR Director Jennifer Duvall at their April 10 meeting. The board voted unanimously in support of starting school on September 6, 2017.

Key dates for the 2017-18 school year are as follows:
First day of school, September 6, 2017
Winter Break, December 23 – January 5, 2018
Spring Break, March 26 – 30, 2018
High School Graduation, June 8
Last day of school, June 15, early release all grades
Many considerations are taken into account when developing school calendars: feedback from staff and parents, contractual obligations and required instructional time. In addition, board members requested district staff to add one more weather closure make-up day option into the first semester.
To allow parents, staff and the community the ability to plan ahead with key calendar dates, district staff presented a three year calendar for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. In addition, district staff recommend communicating to the public the possibility of starting before Labor Day in the 2020-21 school year since Labor Day falls on September 7, 2020. More information will be shared with families through school communication channels and on the district website.
