Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are essential
to successful schools!

In today's schools, there are far more jobs and responsibilities than there are people to do them. By helping with special events and routine tasks, volunteers allow teachers and staff to really focus on helping children learn and grow. Schools can accomplish so much more, and offer children and families more services, with the help of volunteers.

If you're interested in volunteering in our school district, we encourage you to contact the school of your choice to see what opportunities are available. The possibilities include:

Helping in a classroom
Library assistance
Answering phones and greeting visitors in the school office
Monitoring children on the playground or lunchroom
Tutoring students
Helping teens prepare college essays
Accompanying students on field trips
Monitoring tests
Supporting staff appreciation activities
Assisting students in the Career Centers (high school)
Supervising safety patrol teams before and after school
Sharing specialized skills in classrooms or with student  clubs
Participating in school fundraisers
And so much more!

SMART (Start Making a Reader Today)
A few of our schools participate in SMART, an Oregon non-pofit program which relies on volunteers willing to spend an hour a week to help elementary children become more confident readers. For more information, click the SMART link above.

PTA-PTO Membership
Every school has an active Parent-Teacher Association/Organization and each one relies on a host of volunteers to carry out its mission of supporting the students and staff at their school. Volunteers assist with special events such as school carnivals, science fairs and book fairs; by making copies or preparing classroom materials at the request of busy teachers; coordinating staff appreciation activities; organizing and promoting school fundraisers, including Dine-Out events at local restaurants and the popular Scrip gift card program; and so much more.

To learn more, contact the school office of your choice or click on the link below to contact the school's PTA-PTO directly:
