Families requesting a school outside of their boundary area may apply for a transfer in the Spring. If you feel like your student needs to transfer outside of this window, then you can apply for a Mid-Year transfer.

Closure & Consolidation Transfers

Elementary Students

If you currently reside in the Letitia Carson Elementary boundary the new lines will be:

  • East of Highway 99-Mt. View Elementary
  • West of Highway 99-Bessie Coleman Elementary
  • Garfield Elementary sister school-Kathryn Jones Harrison Elementary

If you are attending Letitia Carson Elementary on a resident transfer from Adams Elementary, Bessie Coleman Elementary, or Kathryn Jones Harrison Elementary, you will automatically be returned to your home boundary school in the 2026-2027 school year.

If you are attending Letitia Carson Elementary on a non-resident transfer you will be placed at Kathryn Jones Harrison Elementary without needing to reapply for a spot in the district.

Middle School Students

If you currently reside in the Cheldelin Middle School boundary you will automatically be placed at the Junior High unless you live in the Mt. View Elementary boundary. Those who live in the Mt. View Elementary boundary  will be contacted regarding their option to continue with their peers at the Junior High or to return to Mt. View to complete grade 7 & 8.

If you are attending Cheldelin Middle School on a non-resident transfer, you will automatically be placed at the Junior High.

Priority for Letitia Carson & Cheldelin Students

If you are wanting to transfer to a school outside of the ones you will be placed in, you may apply for a transfer during either transfer window. Students attending LCE or CMS will automatically get priority, but we recommend applying during the February window as that will be the best chance to receive a spot.

Mid-Year Transfer Requests (Now Open)

Mid-year transfers are highly discouraged, but we understand they might need to occur. If you haven’t already done so, we recommend checking in with your school administrator to see if the issues you’re facing can be resolved. Please note that the rules surrounding mid-year requests are more stringent, and we ask that you answer questions not asked during the official transfer window in the Spring. Additionally, unless it’s an emergency, the transfer would occur at the term mark.

2026-27 Corvallis Resident and Non-Resident Transfers

This application is for the official windows to transfer your student at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The dates will appear here after December 1. There will be two official windows this year due to closure & consolidation. The first will be in February and the second in late March.

Student Transfer Overview

Families have a variety of reasons for requesting a school transfer, and in some cases, we may initiate a placement to allow a student with specific educational needs to attend a school outside their neighborhood boundary school.

Parents/guardians may request a school transfer during the annual transfer window each Spring for the next school year. In most cases, unless specifically addressed in our policies, transportation to a school outside your boundary neighborhood is the responsibility of the family.

Rules of Transfer

  • If the number of students seeking a transfer exceeds the number of spaces available, an equitable lottery is used and a wait list is created.
  • Waitlists will be monitored through the 1st semester and should any spot open, families will be notified. After the 1st semester, those waitlists will be deleted.
  • Corvallis families may only choose one school for their transfer request.
  • Non-residents have the option of “any school in the district,” if they are hoping for a spot in the district and aren’t looking for one school in particular.
  • A transfer approval is good through grades 5, 8, or 12.
  • A new transfer request must be approved for a student to move from elementary to middle or middle to high school in a non-boundary school.
  • Students approved into the Dual Immersion program may continue in that program through grade 12 without requesting another transfer.
  • Parents/guardians of entering kindergarten students must first register at their neighborhood school before requesting a transfer to a different school.
  • Transfer students must meet OSAA Transfer Rules in order to participate in OSAA athletics and activities.
  • Families approved for a non-resident transfer must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Form from their home district before attending Corvallis schools.

Transferring out of the Corvallis School District

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) requires that school districts receive a release approval from the resident school district before accepting an incoming student transfer. Parents/guardians wishing to transfer their student to another school district must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Out Of 509J. Please note, this is not an Intent to Enroll Form for a virtual charter school.

Completed forms may be sent to [email protected].
