2026 School Consolidation Legacy Project

Letitia Carson Elementary and Cheldelin Middle School

In the fall of 2025, the Corvallis School Board moved forward with a school consolidation plan to address district budget challenges, leading to the closure of Letitia Carson Elementary School and Cheldelin Middle School in June of 2026. While these changes are difficult, both schools remain a deeply valued part of our community’s history.

This archive was created to honor, share, and celebrate the lasting legacies, cherished memories, and impact of Letitia Carson Elementary and Cheldelin Middle School.

Time Capsule

The time capsule was created by the students at (then) Wilson Elementary School who were part of the creation of Wildcat Park. Each class contributed pieces to the time capsule! It was reopened by students at “Wildcat” Elementary during the COVID pandemic on a Zoom assembly so all students could share in the fun even when watching from home!

Coming Soon: Letitia Carson Memories Digital Scrapbook

During the recent community celebration, attendees were invited to share their favorite school memories through handwritten notes and drawings. We are currently in the process of gathering, scanning, and organizing these heartfelt pages to create a digital scrapbook.

Please note: This gallery is a work in progress. We are still collecting and digitizing submissions, and this gallery will launch soon.
