Members Sought for Budget Committee

The Corvallis School District has two vacancies on the Budget Committee for three-year terms that end June 30, 2024. Interested individuals are invited to submit a letter of interest and resume by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 29, 2021.

The Budget Committee consists of seven members appointed by the School Board plus the seven elected School Board members. Budget Committee members are appointed by the School Board to review the District’s proposed budget, listen to public comment, recommend needed changes, and then approve the budget total and tax rates to be forwarded to the School Board for adoption.

Applicants must live and be registered to vote in the District, and not be an officer, agent or employee of the District. Positions are non-partisan, unpaid, and are not connected to any specific region within the district. Members with expired terms may request reappointment.

Budget committee members are appointed for three-year terms and typically conduct business in evening public meetings held between April and June. Meetings are normally scheduled on Thursday evenings. New appointees are also expected to participate in an orientation session.

The School Board will vote to appoint two budget committee members at the regularly scheduled November 18, 2021 board meeting.
