What's Happening Now

June 2020

CHS Re-roof work is scheduled for completion in July.

PIVOT – Design meetings and discussion continue with meetings with core team to develop design priorities within the bond scope.

DAC committee selection is underway.

Remote design team members continue to make site visits to CHS to investigate existing conditions.

Gerding provided a schematic design budget (menu of options) for various scopes of work. The core team is discussing the cost/benefits for each options in an effort to maximize impact for the bond scope.

May 2020

CHS Re-roof work is well underway and going very smoothly.

PIVOT’s design team has had two schematic design meetings with the Site Core Team and they have started to identify design opportunities and priorities within the bond scope. The team has also made site visits to CHS to investigate existing conditions.

April 2020

We are starting re-roof work now, while students are still off campus. This is in effort to move work previously scheduled for the summer to a time when students are not impacted by construction. Should students return, we can pause and pick back up in the summer.

The new flagpole and the new bleachers are both installed at the softball field improvement project.

The Corvallis High School CTE Renovation Kick-off is scheduled for April 3, 2020 as a remote-participant workshop. The month of April will be used to learn more about scope, teacher needs and early schematic design workshops.

March 2020

Snyder Roofing will submit their required re-roofing submittal package to facilitate city permit approvals.

Gerding has drafted a project schedule and provided it to the Wenaha and CSD team. Wenaha and CSD will review the re-roof schedule with the CHS front office staff in the coming weeks.

Final city sign-off of the completed softball dugout soffits, including lighting, is scheduled for the first week of March.

Musco, the Taylor Field lighting vendor, will be adding 1 additional light to 2 poles to improve the lighting at the bullpen areas. This work is anticipated to occur mid-March.

February 2020: Re-roofing bids for main building finalized

Re-roofing bids have been received, reviewed and finalized for the main building. A re-roofing contractor has been tentatively selected pending board approval. This is a major bond promise element and the contract value is below budget.

Softball dugout soffits will be installed in February. The soffits will prevent bird and insect nesting for health and safety reasons.

New softball bleachers are in production and scheduled for installation in late March/April.

A new flagpole at the softball field is on order with delivery and installation scheduled for March/April.

The Taylor field lighting levels for the bullpen areas will be increased after discussions with the vendor. The plan is to add 1 additional light to illuminate each bullpen area. This work is anticipated to conclude around mid-March.

January 2020

Design work is complete for the roof replacement project and bids are due late January. The work is scheduled to begin this summer of 2020.

Construction activities for the improvements to the varsity softball field are wrapping up. Backstop netting was installed and new bleachers are on order.

Work continues on the varsity softball field improvements. Work will be completed by November.

September 2019: Projects completed and Design Work Continuing

Design work is nearly complete for the roof replacement project that will bid in the late fall for work taking place in summer of 2020.

Construction activities for the improvements to the varsity softball field are continuing and on schedule to be completed by November.

Track resurfacing  and Taylor Field light replacement projects are complete.

June 2019: Athletic Facility Improvements

Final planning is underway for summer 2019 projects: Varsity softball facility improvements are scheduled to start in early July and be completed by November. Track resurfacing will take place during the last two weeks in July through the first week in August and the Taylor Field light replacement project will occur in early August. Summer projects have been closely coordinated with all users to minimize impacts and make sure the process is clearly understood. Special Olympic activities will be relocated from Linus Pauling Middle School track to the CHS track because of construction activities.

Design work is underway for the roof replacement project that will bid in the late fall for work taking place in summer of 2020. Design work is being finalized to create a secure entry vestibule at the front office location.

Construction of the secure front entry vestibule will take place in the late fall.

February, 2019: Softball field design progress and more

Designs for the softball field improvement are almost finished. Procurement activities are also in progress for the Taylor Field light replacement and track resurfacing. Pivot Architecture is finalizing their report on initial CTE planning. Initial project investigation is underway, including a topographical survey and geotechnical soil borings.

Softball improvements will be issued for subcontractor bidding through CMGC Gerding Builders in early June. Additionally, softball improvements and Taylor Field light replacements require a modification to the Conditional Development Permit. The process will culminate with a planning commission hearing and approval in early June. Taylor Field light replacements and track resurfacing is being procured through cooperative purchasing agreements.
