Crescent Valley staff became aware of a possible threat off school premises. The local law enforcement were contacted and in an abundance of caution, Crescent Valley followed a SECURE protocol, which means all external doors were locked and business continued as usual.
During the Secure, students and staff who were still on campus remained in the building. The situation was resolved quickly and students and staff were allowed to leave campus.

Last night, a Philomath student’s Facebook account was hacked and a hoax threat was posted. This was investigated, the IP address located and determined to be from Colorado. Police completed the investigation and determined that the threat is not credible. An email message was shared with all middle school and high school families.
October 29 at 2:30 pm
UPDATE: 3:25 pm — Students and staff have returned to the building. The cause of the smell was related to the HVAC system which has now been turned off. There was no fire and district facilities staff are working on the HVAC system.
Linus Pauling Middle School has been evacuated due to the smell of smoke. Corvallis Fire Department is on scene and investigating. Update to follow.

UPDATE: 11:35 am — Corvallis Fire Department has responded. Facilities staff extinguished a small trashcan fire. Classes have resumed. The district is cooperating with the Corvallis Fire Department and Corvallis Police Department investigation of this issue.
The fire alarm was activated at Cheldelin Middle School. Students and staff have evacuated the building. Update to follow.

UPDATE: Student has been transported to the hospital. The student received the right care for their emergency and is doing well.
A student has experienced a medical emergency while in the health room at Linus Pauling Middle School. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) have responded. Update to follow.

UPDATE: Corvallis Fire Department has determined the fire alarm system was activated due to a faulty sensor. Students have returned to classes as usual as of 12:00 pm.
Wilson Elementary has been evacuated due to the fire alarm being activated. Update to follow.

UPDATE: Lockout was cleared at 9:15 am. The situation has been resolved.
Jefferson Elementary is in Lockout due to police activity in the neighborhood. During a Lockout, all perimeter doors are locked and classes continue as scheduled. Students are kept inside during recess. Update to follow.
