Facilities Planning Committee Workshops

The Facilities Planning Committee is charged to develop a Long Range Facilities Master Plan to help transform an aging infrastructure and provide more innovative and equitable opportunities for all students. The committee was appointed by Superintendent Noss in January 2017 and completed their work in November 2017 with a draft plan recommendation for the superintendent.

February 23, 2017, Workshop #2 - Demographics, Capacity, and Educational Impacts

Committee members will discuss historic and projected enrollment figures and will discuss the effects of open enrollment (school choice) policies and practices. Educational adequacy assessments will also be presented and discussed.

March 23, 2017, Workshop #3 - Brainstorming Big Ideas

The committee will have an opportunity to review program capacity in our school buildings, a tiered project list, and possible financing for future projects. Half of the meeting will focus on brainstorming "big ideas" for our district.

April 25, 2017, Workshop #4 - Finding Common Ground

Financing and facilities plan scenarios will be presented. Committee members will discuss the draft scenarios, prioritize projects, and modify the scenarios to best meet the needs of Corvallis. The public is welcome to attend and observe all planning meetings.

May 11, 2017, Workshop #5 - Prioritizing and Creating the Draft Plan

This workshop will give committee members an opportunity to synthesize facility improvement priorities, costs, and educational program needs as they are tasked to review the first round of the draft plan.

June 6, 2017, Workshop #6 - Finalizing the Draft Plan

At the final meeting of the 2016-17 school year committee members had an opportunity to review proposed improvements at each school and provide a first draft proposal to be vetted with community stakeholders this summer.

This meeting will include time for discussing community feedback and how best to prioritize facilities projects.

November 28, 2017, Workshop #8 - Finalizing the Plan

This was the 8th and final meeting of the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee. Objectives of the meeting included a robust discussion of projects at each school, a prioritization of educational program improvements, and a discussion of the final recommendations to the superintendent.

Long Range Facilities Planning Committee Recommendation

The Long Range Facilities Planning Committee Recommendation Report provides an Executive Summary of the planning process and details of the plan that was provided to the superintendent. Appendix I to the Executive Summary is a 355 page document that includes all supplementary materials from committee workshops; a digital copy is available by request.
